As we near the end of our Femuary campaign, allow us to take a minute to reflect on the events of our month long initiative to promote women in motorsports. We hope that everyone has found the past month to be insightful and inspirational. In this final article regarding Femuary, we look back on all the achievements that Formula Trinity had reached with only a mere idea when we started this campaign to promote women in motorsports.

Each day we set the objective of encouraging women to consider careers in the different areas of the motorsports industry. We were determined to educate our team members and followers on the challenges that women tend to face in this predominantly male field. In order to turn these intentions into a reality, we took the initiative to post on social media daily highlighting the past achievements of the women that paved the way in the industry, as well as celebrating the achievements of our own female team members.

We organised a panel event where we were joined by six incredible women: Silvia Bellot, Natasha Firman, Laura Davies, Nicole Drought, Laura Byrnes and Hannah Power. Our speakers told us about their career paths, the challenges they faced, as well as offering advice to young women like us. Almost 100 people from 21 different countries attended this event. Here at Formula Trinity, we found this Webinar to be incredibly inspiring as we gained an insight into the obstacles overcome by these women in order to achieve success. Check it out here in case you missed it.

Following the panel event, we then released our series of Q&A sessions on IGTV. We chatted with Caitlin Wood – an Australian W Series driver, Georgina Yeomanns – ambassador for Females in Motorsport and writer for BlackBook Motorsport, Nerea Marti – 19 year old W Series driver and Amelia Lewis – performance engineer for McLaren Racing. These short interviews are available for viewing on our Instagram @formulatrinity .

As well as recognizing the achievements of successful women in the motorsports industry, we also celebrated the achievements of our female team members. This months Monday Member posts were Lucy Daly (chassis), Julia Borel (electronics), Emily Harte (chassis) and Sabrina Steinberga (business and operations). These posts highlighted their achievements as women in STEM and valued members of Formula Trinity. To read more about our female team members check out this blog post!

We’d also like to say a big thank you to Women Racing World, who collaborated with us to write our How to be a Part of the Change article, which highlights the growth that the motorsports industry has seen in recent years. We are also immensely grateful for the support of Tanja Germann and Petra Röhrig, founders of Germann Sport and Women @ Racetrack. These women gave us a fantastic and exciting opportunity to gain some insight into their own experiences throughout their career, article available to read here.

While planning this campaign, we thought it would be beneficial and vital to recognise women’s achievements in the past! We posted exciting facts to remember the women who had started the great success and motivated the women of the 21st century!

We would like to thank Nicci Daly, founder of Formula Female. She gave up her time to speak with the female members of our team, providing career advice for us. This talk was an extraordinary opportunity for the girls on our team to network with such an inspiring woman who is currently making waves in the motorsport industry.

Last week, we asked each of our female team members for a few words about their own motivations as team members, or a tip to offer young women aspiring to reach their goals. Here’s what they had to say…

“Constantly combining engineering and creative thinking” -Katie Kilroy, Chassis, Business & Operations, Autonomous

“I love applying theory to practice” -Julia Borel, Electronics

“I love taking on challenges to learn new skills” -Katherine Hardgrave, Business & Operations, Autonomous

“I enjoy combining my love of cars with engineering knowledge” -Emily Harte, Chassis
